Step 1: Combine Ingredients
- Start by taking a large bowl. Add the steel cut oats, milk, and sea salt to the bowl. Stir the mixture well until everything is evenly combined. Make sure all the oats are submerged.
Step 2: Add Nut Butter and Sweetener
- Now, it’s time to incorporate the nut butter. I usually choose peanut butter, but feel free to go with almond or cashew butter if that’s your style. Stir in the nut butter and sweetener until fully blended. You want a smooth texture here, not chunky.
Step 3: Flavor it Up
- Here comes the fun part! Add any optional enhancements at this stage. Toss in chia seeds for texture, ground cinnamon for warmth, or even a scoop of protein powder if you're looking for an extra boost. If you have any citrus zest or vanilla extract, sprinkle those in as well.
Step 4: Refrigerate Overnight
- Cover your bowl with a lid or plastic wrap to seal it. Pop it in the refrigerator and let it work its magic overnight. The oats will absorb the liquid and soften beautifully by morning.
Step 5: Stir and Serve
- When you wake up, grab your oats from the fridge. Give them a good stir. At this point, feel free to adjust the texture with additional milk if it feels too thick. Now is also the chance to add any last-minute toppings like fresh fruits, nuts, or a sprinkle of coconut before enjoying.

Notes
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Always use fresh oats and ingredients to get the best texture and flavors.
- Experiment with Liquids: Try different milks like almond, coconut, or even oat milk for a unique flavor twist.
- Adjust Consistency: If you prefer a creamier dish, add more liquid in the morning. For thicker oats, reduce the liquid during mixing.
- Add Toppings Last Minute: For the best taste and texture, add fresh fruits and nuts just before serving.
- Make it a Meal: You can personalize it to be sweet or savory. Go bold – try ingredients like feta cheese for a savory delight!
